First Alcohol Free Friday night
Posted 06/01/12

Well, I have survived my first alcohol free Friday night. I cannot remember the last Friday night I didn't crack open a bottle of wine. Like a lot of ladies in their 30's I love my wine. Thinking back to when I was a healthy and fit 20 something, also 20 kilos lighter, I didn't drink much back then. I think I got into the wine habit when I was a sales rep. I was taking clients out to dinner and/or some nights I was just down right bored and lonely and thought some wine 'research' would be fun.

I have tried to lose weight for the past three years, but haven't really gotten anywhere. My weight is like a yo yo, constantly up and down. The main culprit getting in the way of my weight loss is alcohol. Being a weight watchers subscriber, it is easy to see how many calories I am drinking..sometimes my drinking was almost as many 'points' as food points. Now I have known all this for some time, but knowing isn't enough to change is it? Somehow I had to find the motivation to do it.....wanting to conceive is it for me. I figured that if I'm still drinking, I'm not really 'trying' to conceive. I also realised that I had much to gain from 'breaking up' from my relationship with alcohol.....less groggy mornings, less calorie intake, improved fertility, better digestion, healthier etc. Is the short lived 'bliss' from a glass of champagne really worth what alcohol costs me? No it is not.

So, almost at the end of my first week...I am confident that I can finish my 12 week challenge. I've already lost a kilo, so my weight loss goal of 8kg is looking pretty good!

Hello there… firstly congratulations for getting through the first week. Not easy hey but you have done it.
You seem pretty much so on to your game so won’t go on to much! Have a look at Chia seeds (not a gratuitous ad spike) from the Americas. I take it myself just for energy purposes but have seen research pointing towards weight loss with some very interesting results.
Enjoy your weekend and and your sobriety!! :)
