Bombarded by alcohol industry

After one week of being sober I fell off the wagon big style.My sister had a bad accident and was critical for several days.The voice in my head gave me a talk about how I needed a drink,who wouldn`t in this situation!It did me no good whatsoever,in fact it sent me back into complete excess.My sister is making amazing progress after major brain surgery and her determination is inspiring.There she is fighting for her life and here am I, almost trashing mine.So here goes again I am repledging. Now it`s almost Christmas I am finding it very diffficult to keep alcohol out of my life.People in the supermarket piling crates and bottles into their trolleys.Ads on tv,in magasines,people drinking on tv soaps,offers of drinks when you visit friends-it`s endless and feels like I am being attacked from all  sides. Don`t buy me wine for my birthday!

I have just told my daughter and husband not to buy me alcohol for my birthday and why. The first thing my husband said was ,”what punishment should we give you if you give in?”My daughter(23)said ,”you will have to do a forfeit like we did at uni when my friend had to run to the shop and back in her underwear!”Neither of them said “great we are all behind you”but then again I know that they have been here before and been sorely disappointed. I have joined this group because it is fundamentally different to any other that helps people get off alcohol.It has,at last,presented an intelligent ,realistic and holistic approach where a collective attitude is the thing to alter,not the individual`s desperate struggle to save themselves from dependence.
