Read this the other day: Booze as bad as burgers for weight gain Bit sexist in saying it adds inches to a woman’s waistline, what about men?! A lot of people are waking up to the fact that binge drinking can cause weight gain. Doesn’t affect me personally as I’ve always been slim, I have lost a kilo or two in the last 3 weeks though. I think for some people it can be a vicious circle; they start to put on a few pounds, develop  low self-esteem and drink more to overcome it. An overweight friend of mine claims he can drink more because he is bigger, I told him he is bigger because he drinks more - chicken, egg. Anyway, good motivation for people who might be wavering

The ATM misses me

Well I’m 11 days in, probably the longest I’ve ever gone without a drink since age 19 (I was a late starter!). There have been some ups and downs, I can’t find a good non-alcohlic drink, at least one that doesn’t have lots of sugar in which will keep me awake all night! A big “up” I noticed today was when I walked past the ATM and thought “I should get some cash out” as it had been well over a week and I usually go about once a week. I checked my wallet and found I still had nearly $100 left (I took out $200 on the 2nd Jan). How good is that? I’ll easily get through this week with that and probably won’t even need to visit the ATM until late next week, well into the third week. Just hope I don’t forget my PIN!
