i didn’t manage to get through dinner with my parents without drinking. But I was determined to get through today alcohol free – especially when I realized that the wine is adding another 50% to my WW points tally every day. Plus some. If I am to get anywhere near the 29 points a day I should be consuming, there’s little room for 5-15 points (2-3 glasses) of Sauvignin Blanc that is adding a real wallop to my daily tally. Dinner was he’d to start with. I could see the people at other tables filling and sipping at their glasses and Ireally wanted ‘just one’. Not that it would have stopped there. So why not today?

I opened the paper this morning, saw Beck Eleven’s story and decided the time has come.  We’ve been doing deals with ourselves  for months. No drinking except on holiday. No drinking except with dinner. No drinking unless it’s a special occasion. No drinking unless we go out. No drinking unless we’ve got company. No drinking unless there’s a decent aftershock. However…there is dinner every night. A decent aftershock every week or so. A holiday every couple of months to escape the decent aftershocks.  And then more drinking when we come home to calm our nerves for the ones that are to come. Special occasions galore – and even more once you start to dream them up. And it’s really easy to arrange company, if you’re really determined to crack open a bottle of Sav.
