I'm Amanda, I am 34 and I've probably consumed a swimming pool full of various types of alcohol over the last 20 years. I really enjoy a wine or 5 on a Friday night and find myself having 2 or more glasses at home after work too. I work part time as an architect and I have Multiple Sclerosis. A year ago I completely changed my diet and lifestyle, cutting out meat (except fish) and dairy, exercising and reducing stress. Red wine is practically prescribed as an antioxidant with all the omega-3s I eat. But I've always been a little bit too over indulgent on that front. I've been getting healthier and healthier, going from a wheelchair to a person who rides their pushbike to work and who will live a linger life than if I'd never been diagnosed with MS with all the changes I've made. My only remainders of the disease now are fatigue and bladder problems. I know that alcohol exacerbates the bladder issues. Also coffee and tea which I will try to cut back on too. But it will be interesting to see if the fatigue improves too. At least my bank balance is sure to improve! Last night I bought a friend and myself non-alcoholic drinks and was shocked at the difference in price! I've done dry July and didn't find it too hard. The benefits are obvious, I'll try to make a more serious attempt at it this time.
