So this is my second 3 month HSM. It is so easy this time. I have had no mental challenges; i know exactly how to be a dick head without alcohol; it’s great!  I went home to Cairns for Easter. the first night was my brothers 18th family style. So all the adults get pissed while we eat their food. But at the end of the night i expected to only drop one family home. After grandma, aunty and uncle, other random friends and then dropping the 18 year old into town (4 trips not even counting the pick ups before the party) i get a txt from Mum asking to drop the last drunk home. No way i’d had enough driving for one night plus i was already at a friends house who lives in the suburb mum wanted me to drive to. I felt kind of rude declining [...]

Here are some pic’s from nights i’ve had while doing HSM!!! Girlfriends 21st ABC party (Mates 21st) Union College Mini Ball ‘In your dreams’ theme ICC Bandfest (UQ Brisbane) So as you can see i have had a sick time doing HSM and haven’t missed on anything i would of normally done because of drinking. If anything i think i have gone out more just to keep proving that i can do it! A big thanks to Fraser and JPY for not letting me go it alone. UQ HSMers are a pretty sweet bunch! So i’m nearly at the end (only a week to go) and i can honestly say HSM has been soo much fun! I have made some great new friends and got to know some old ones better. I have challenged myself further than i thought i could. I have proved to myself and to my friends [...]

5 things
26/04/11 • 0 Comments

Just saw someone post 5 things they have noticed and i think i will do it too… 1. Waking up is soo much easier after a night out. No headache or dash to drive the porcelain bus.. 2. Improvements in my skin… Less breakouts! 3. More motivation to exercise.. General ‘healthy’ feeling (although after all the easter chcolate…) 4. How smelly drunk people are when they breathe on you and how close they get to talk… Pretty funny! 5. My HSM is actually motivating others- or at least making them aware that there is support and people interested in making a change in their life without alcohol.

Okay i think i am up to week 3.. Or 4.. Who cares! I am having so much fun just living my normal life without alcohol (ok, so not really my normal life).. But it is great! Had a fab brekky with the HSM crew last week. It was great to chat with the guys about their expieriences and a whole lot of random stuff! Ben\’s hash browns were a hit My friend said to me the other day \’out of all our friends you are definately the most likely to be able to do this (HSM) and actually enjoy yourself because you are always like that\\\’. It was something along those lines anyway. That made me feel really confident knowing that my friends are behind me. I think support is key in this kind of activity.  I am sure next week will be difficult with the all you can [...]

Week One
11/04/11 • 0 Comments

So i have finished my first week of no alcohol. Weekdays- No probs! Weekends- Hard! I went to a mates 21st on Saturday night in the Valley. It was an ABC (anything but clothes) party. Not bragging or anything but i had one of the best costumes too! haha. I wore a big Myer bag like a dress- looked awesome! So i was the only person not drinking at the function. Normally i would be one of the people who are dancing like a psyco and yelling at the top of my lungs and falling over.. Nope this time it was different. It was so hard not to order a drink while everyone else slowly (and some quickly) got plastered. But i did it and it feels good now! One of the guys told me i look better sober too- I liked hearing that (he was drunk though… but i [...]
