What I did when I reached my 3 months

Well I reached my 3 month HSM last Monday. The day passed without me even remembering that I had reached my goal. I didn’t actually remember until later in the week when someone asked me about it. Last night I went out with my girlfriends and I thought I might have a glass or two of champers to celebrate a dear friends birthday. And that’s exactly what I did…..I had two glasses of champagne. The champagne was lovely, it tasted fesh and sweet. But halfway through my second glass a slow dawning came over me that I would have been just as happy with a glass of lemon, lime and bitters. I didn’t need those two glasses of champers to enjoy the night. I was enjoying myself anyway. As the night wore on and one of my friends became more and more inebriated I suddenly became very tired of the [...]

Wow!! I looked at the calender last night and realised my 3 month HSM finishes this Sunday! The reason I was so surprised is becuase I have actually completely stopped thinking about alcohol or drinking at all! Not drinking has become second nature to me and I am so, so, so thankful. In the last 3 months I have lost about 7 kilos and for the first time in years I am enjoying looking at my refelection in the miror each morning. So how am I going to celebrate?? Well to be honest I am in 2 minds about what to do. I have already decided to do another HSM but I just don’t know whether to have a week of gentle celebration with a few glasses of champers here and there or go straight into my next 3 months and turn it into a 6 month HSM. What do you think???

A rum tottie without rum….

So my previous inspired and positive post has come crashing down with a loud bang….or should that be a snotty snort. The old immune system has crashed and burned this week landing me with ‘purulent sinusitis’…..eeeewwwwh!! Is that just fancy medical speak for a ‘common cold’? Probably. I don’t know what’s worse…the purulent sinusitis or the antibiotics and the awful side effects that go with them. Anyway, to cut a long and not particularly interesting story short….what was my previous home remedy for all things snotty…why a rum tottie of course!! This involves a mug of boiling water with the juice of a lemon, a couple of tablespoons of honey and a very GENEROUS splash of rum. So, what to do, what to do???? I’ve been experimenting all week with new ‘totties’ sans rum. Here’s a few suggestions for those of you who are also currently mucously challenged……..replace the rum with some grated ginger (yummy) or [...]

Embarrassed no more!!

I have been thinking lately of all the thingsI have done in life that I have regretted or been embarrassed about. Most of these moments have occurred while under the influence of alcohol. I first got really drunk when I was fourteen. It was my Dad\’s 40th birthday party and for some bizarre reason I was allowed to drink. In fact, the adults at the party seemed to think it was quite amusing that this young girl was absolutely shit-faced (excuse my french). Looking back now, and as a mother myself, I am horrified by this seemingly poor parenting. However, my parents were not the ones to blame when I proceeded to contniue this bad behaviour throughout my teens and young adulthood….. Things I regret while under the influence of alcohol: Being charged with drink driving when 19 years old. Cheating on lovers while out drunk. Missing important functions/work situations due [...]
