It’s the end!

So tomorrow marks the end of my 3 month HSM. It has been a really positive experience and has definetly changed the way I view alcohol. To recap on my goals… 1.Loosing weight—— hmm that didn’t actually happen. I replaced alcohol with sugar and we all know sugar doesn’t really have any nutritional value! As of tomorrow, I am going to attempt a 3 month non-sugar HSM. I know I said I was going to do that for the last month of my HSM, but I started a 8.30-5pm placement for uni and the magical 3 o’clock sugar cravings were hard to ignore. I know that I have the skill to not do something damging to my health for 3 months, so hopefully my brain will listen to this fact…. 2. Celebrating my birthday alcohol free—— done and done Had a really good long lunch in the sunshine [...]

Podiums, goats and giggles…

Had the most awesome night last night. Out with a mate that always makes me laugh. We met up at a bar which was doing sangria jugs for a mexican night. I declined and stuck to soda water with fresh lime- so suprisingly tasty! Had dinner and walked out in search of desert- satisfied with a peice of baklava from a very interesting looking turkish restaurant (we will return!). I was musing a little bit about what the last 2 months has taught me/changed in me, so I thought I would share it here… * I feel more confident being me I’m quite happy to have random conversations about goats and make up songs while to trying to avoid the harshness of Melbourne’s winter! I don’t really care what people think of me. I have my purple coat and a clear head and I’m loving it. Last night could [...]

For all those Melbournians.. how awesome was today? started out aparantly normal, got crazy cold then the trippy mist decended at about 4pm and it’s still there 6 hours later! It makes the world slighty magical and full of possibilities Nothing major to report, up to week 7, so in the home stretch ish… It doesn’t feel like a challange any more. I was at a friends house on friday for a nose party (red nose day) and was quite happy with my soda water and fresh lime. I went for a few hours, then left before 12 to tram it back to the otherside of the city to be in bed by a decent hour so I could do a bike ride the next morning. I love when exercise starts being the important thing in your life so that you base activities around it In regards to my goals— [...]

So it’s 6 weeks down and I’m feeling awesome I went out on friday to a fabulous regee/funk/blues/very very good gig up in the dandenongs and danced crazy amounts and didn’t hit the pillow until 2am all without a single desire for alcohol. I danced maore than I had in months and felt like a very happy bella the next morning with no hangover. I was able to drive my friend’s tank (ok so not a tank, but i very high up jeep!) from the pub to where we were staying the night and felt so happy that I could look after my friends safety and help us all get home! I again spoke to lots of people about HSM over the and most importantly inspired my first person to start an HSM!!! On the morning after the gig and a few red wines and beers under his belt, my [...]

Not much to report. 5 weeks in. Finished the semester and all my essays and now the marks are coming in… after a committed semester it’s all paying off and I’m getting a few HD’s so I’m pretty stoked with that. Still struggling with chocolate and the exercise side of my goals but now that the semester is over I can concentrate on the health stuff and started today with a 40mins walk home instead of catching the tram. Went to a friends party on Saturday night and had a few glasses of flavoured mineral water with fresh lime. I think I need to find a new party drink that doesn’t have so much sugar. That is all!
