Am amazed at how good I feel and how much more energy I have. 3 Weekends and no drunkenness and so much more time to do things in the weekend. Travelled to Rotorua for some mountain biking on Saturday, started off awesome but unfortunately we had a mechanical after about an hour so had to head home. But with no hang over on Sunday we decided to head back (if you don’t know, Rotorua has world class MTB tracks, so worth the trip). Long story short was awesome day, great drops, awesome air and lots of mud, MTB paradise! And only possible because of no drinking and we were up at the same time sparrows start farting. Great results in the gym as well, the day after turning 33, and celebrating with work mates at a pub quiz that no alcohol was consumed by me (a shit load of sugar [...]

Reality Check!
12/08/11 • 0 Comments

Our team attending a youth orgaised pub quiz last night, was well orgainsed, a fantatic night and alcohol free! I did have a reality check however, I was highly embrassed when I approached the bar to try one of the fantastic Mockatails (they were great by the way), but the bar tender who works as a youth worker and in one of our local bars asked me was I dissapointed that there was no alcohol? I answered “not a problem i’m trying to cut back” this was received by laughter, so I replied “no really I am” which was followed by more laughter and a “yea right”. Shows the reputation I have made for myself in some circles, not good but it I can only but try to change this. All in all though it was a great night, but the true test will come next week when we are entered in a [...]

1 Beer Is Nice, Goals Are Motivation
09/08/11 • 9 Comments

Had 1 Beer tonight and really enjoyed it, had no intention to have another nore wanted one. Its amazing how much you can enjoy one beer when you are having one to enjoy rather then get smashed. The test will come when out next I guess, the intention is to have fun but not get drunk and ruin another good week of training. Set some personal goals in the gym today and the only way I will get their is to respect my body. GYM GOALS: My Weight: 83kg Bench 120kg 6 reps, am struggling at 110kg 2 reps Full Squat 180kg 6 reps, can only do 1 now Half Squat 220kg, can hold 200 but not move Deadlift 210kg, failed at 180kg 2 weeks ago Why? why not, with respecting my body I am giving myself best chance and every time I get wasted I will be another step behind,. 1 Week Down!
08/08/11 • 2 Comments

Pretty good really, 3 Beers over the week, and half of one of the bottles went into my Fish/Mussel Batter. Have been sick this week, full of a cold and had a crazy busy week, had Fire training all weekend so have not had a day off and wont till the end of this week, but still feel pretty good. Eating plan is going well and back into the gym this week with out un-doing all my good work by getting smashed over the weekend. There was good reason to celebrate with the Allblacks dealing to you aussies but just did not want to drink. A mate and I sat down in front of the TV with good food and enjoyed the game, and the extra bonus is we can remember it all. Looking forward to the weekend, even though it is only Monday, but will be off for a late [...]

Day 1:
01/08/11 • 1 Comment

Although I’m not giving up drinking all together, I do have the urge to look at other aspects of life that are unhealthy. It does make me wonder…..train hard all week, piss it up all weekend-WTF, eat reasonable healthy all week and live of greasy takeaways all weekend…again WTF. There is a time and a place for everything but at what point do you stop abusing your body?! For me, this is the point, I will eat shit food, but from now it will be on occasions, I will drink alcohol, but I will drink to enjoy and be responsible. I do not want to not remember ever again, sorry friends but I can have a good night on just a couple and I am not going to waste my week of training anymore, if you can’t respect that I can’t respect you, I use to be a health promoter, a [...]
