Hi everyone, long time no post! I’m not going to lie, I was scared of typing this post. As of last friday I had gone for two months without drinking, and I was so happy and excited! This day was made better by seeing Wil Anderson in a cafe in Bathurst (I never get to see celebrities, EVER). Exciting times. The extreme happiness and loveliness of this day was escalated by the fact that I passed all of my uni subjects this semester! Hooray! Yippeee! My friend was trying to convince me to come out for cocktails and and drink to celebrate. She’s been trying to tell me since I started that I should just drink in moderation. If it didn’t work before then it was probably time to start something new. I said I would go out but I wasn’t sure about drinking.  I started with one piccolo of [...]

Two months to go!
14/10/11 • 1 Comment

Hiii! I’ve successfully completed one month of HSM and am feeling pretty proud of myself!  Things I’ve noticed whilst doing HSM are: 1. My skin is amazing.  2. I don’t feel like eating unhealthy food as much. 3. I can dance like a pro whilst sober. I went out for the first time whilst sober on wednesday and surprisingly I enjoyed myself. I didn’t feel obligated as the sober person to look after anyone which was something I wasn’t looking forward to. Don’t get me wrong if something serious were to happen I would help! But looking after drunk people is not my favourite past time. It was a comfort knowing that I could drive myself home whenever I wanted and not have to wait for a taxi.  A downside of the night is copping mean things from people who are intoxicated. I’m not sure what my reaction would have [...]

Three weeks down!
04/10/11 • 1 Comment

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well with your HSM goals this week!  I’ve just finished my third week of HSM and am excited to finish my first month! So far I’ve met positive reviews about my attempt at not drinking for three months. People haveh have been really accepting which I’m relieved to find.  Bathurst just recently hosted a competition called the Aboriginal knockout and it seemed that there was no other place to go out except for my work! Approximately 2500 people entered the club over the weekend and the bar was atleast four people deep until closing time on Saturday and Sunday night. On busy weeekends our boss likes to buy us free drinks at the end of each night for doing a great job. It was a bit of struggle to sit chatting to my co-workers while they were drinking their beers/spirits, I was a [...]

Post number two!
25/09/11 • 2 Comments

Hi everyone! I haven’t been able to post since my first because my parents computer hasn’t been able to cope with the HSM website. My first two weeks have been relatively easy to cope with as I\’ve been sick and have been on four different types of antibiotics. I did have some difficulty witnessing my dad having his scotch in the night, and also a glass of wine for my mother! I like to drink similar things to parents so it will be interesting to see how I go when I’m not on antibiotics. I’ve been away for two weeks from uni and I just arrived back yesterday on the last day of what is considered a three day bender. The first day is thursday which is a uni bar night, including a silent disco, the friday which is a chill out session at our residence and saturday is the [...]

Day number one!
11/09/11 • 2 Comments

I\’m not entirely sure whether this counts as being day one because I stopped drinking this morning at around 2 am, I was celebrating a friends 21st. I had originally planned to started HSM about a month ago and my friend wasn\’t too happy to hear that I might not be drinking at her 21st. Therefore I put it off. I had a great night last night and can remember the whole night which is a surprise! However, when we went to go home, my friends brother decided to try and fight a group of people which was a bit annoying. It took a bit to calm him down (and approximately a 3 km walk). I don\’t think people (myself included) understand how actions can impact upon other people!! My friend went missing and we rang her, turns out she decided to get a lift home without telling us.  I\’m [...]
