Day 28 is approaching and guess what, I feel good … really good. Physical changes so far: 1. Lost weight 2. Clearer skin 3. Clearer mind 4. Better sleep Emotional changes so far: 1. Feeling less ‘depressed and guilty’ 2. Uncovering reasons why I drink in the first place 3. Mood is generally more happier I think I’ve made a good start but have got a lot more to go. Yes, there have and will be temptation but I feel im getting better at dealing with the cravings. One side effect I need to watch is replacing booze with chocolate Its funny: I have no craving whatsoever during the day but when the clock strikes 7pm (when I use to have my first drink), I turn into a chocolate devouring version of the cookie monster. At the club and its not gelling.

So it’s 1239am, I’m at a club and guess what. I’m over it. I’m not sure if it was the drunk woman that sounded she was speaking in tongues with her drink spilling everywhere or if it was the alcohol soaked breath of a friend that was reminencant of the bottom of a birds cage that turned me off. I should be enjoying myself like many others are but I just want to go home. Don’t get me wrong, I had a little boogie, had fun but it’s time to call it a night. For the first time in a very long time I told my partner that HE needs to slow down a little on the drinks. Geez, the tables have really turned.

Ok, I’ve been really good so far. I havent caved in even though there have been many opportunities. Tonight I’ll be going out to an environment that seduces me every time – the club. I’m going to play a game of “how many different types of non-alcoholic can you consume?” Stay tuned for my achievements.

Day 12 and going strong

Hello Friday Morning! Its been almost 2 weeks without alcohol and it’s actually getting easier. This has probably been the longest drink free stint I have been on for a very long time. I’ve had numerous temptations but haven remained committed to my goal. *pat on the back* I’m hosting a dinner party tonight, the first since starting HSM, so I’m stocked up on soda and lime. Let’s hope the party wont be a snore …

Work drinks and dinner party conquered!

Day 6 and I am so looking forward to waking up tomorrow and saying “Hello Sunday Morning!” I survived 2 very tempting events yesterday. The first was my work leaving lunch. Nailed. The second was a dinner party at a friends place. Nailed. Yes, I got tired more quickly and had to piss every 5 seconds due to the massive water intake but I woke up refreshed and had a session at the gym. Funny thing is, a friend who hosted last nights dinner called me this morning and said, “I think I had a bit too much to drink! Was I over the top?”. That’s normally my tag line
