Back for more. Day two

Back in August last year I was alcohol free for one whole month. I was and am very happy with that – I had only planned to be alcohol free for a month. A month that included a 2 weeks holiday in Perth. I must say though that that was the easiest part though as with 1year old niece, Isabella, I didn’t want to reek of booze or have a hang-over or be a bit tipsy. I hocked into the booze with a vengence when I returned home though. I had a tough time when I returned, as I was very unhappy with beng in Christchurch and felt trapped within my circumstance. Attended a dinner party tonight which is historically booze fuelled and lots of fun. I drank ginger beer, my friends drank wine and we had lots of fun. It felt great to be fully present with the scintilating conversation and delicious food. I didn’t have the desire for a drink at all. Yay! My first party without booze was a breeze. Oh, and waking up this morning without a hang-over was divine. This no drinking experiment is great!

Day Three

It has been an interesting couple of days. I’ve realised how much I have used alcohol as an easy-going, low maintainence friend. Although I may have had an altogether fabulous day… when driving home along the munted roads, to my ‘orange zone’ house where I will spend the evening alone – picking up a bottle of bubbly seems like a fabulous idea. Instead of bubbly I’m been drinking herb tea. And instead of drinking and smoking and watching tv – I’ve been going to bed early and reading. Most pleasant and very healthy.
