Should we ban alcohol advertising?

The messages are everywhere: Turn on the TV and you are told that in order to be a “Reel Man” you must drink a certain type of beer. Walk down the street and you see billboards advertising very young, very pretty girls having fun “making a statement” with Midori. Unless you hide in your room, don’t use the internet or watch TV, you can’t escape the messages: Buy, buy, buy, drink drink, drink. And if you are trying not to drink, this makes it difficult I’m all for freedom of speech, but with freedom comes responsibility. You’re right to run around waving a baseball bat ends the moment it interfares with my right not to be hit in the head. In New Zealand, we have banned tobacco advertising. Welcome to my life

Well, livejournal is down and facebook doesn’t seem like a safe place to vent, so I may as well post here. If anyone is following this post…Welcome. While I intend to discuss alcohol consumption in this blog, my life isn’t just about alcohol. Particularly, as I am not drinking for the next month, other aspects of my life will become more dominant. Therefore, this blog will be about more than just drinking. Hope that doesn’t offend anyone, but it seems awlfully dull to spend an entire month just talking about something that I’m not doing. So, having said that, welcome to my life. So who am I?
