DAY 17 – LAST 2 DAYS HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT :(
18/11/11 • 4 Comments

Ok, so I was finding this no drinking thing really easy until yesterday.  I had my last exam of the year yesterday and my fiance got his Builders Licence application approved, so we went out to dinner to celebrate.  So I had two reasons to celebrate with a few drinks.  I didn’t cave, but god I wanted a drink!  I also found lunch today really hard, but I had a lemon, lime and bitters instead.  I am hoping this passes.  I dont have any parties on the weekend so I should be fine.  How is everyone else going?

DAY 11
12/11/11 • 2 Comments

Ok, so I have made it to day 11 and made it through 2 sober Friday nights.  It actually seems to be getting easier.  I even had my fiance’s sister call him on Friday asking if I was pregnant because I didn’t have a few drinks at dinner with then the night before.  It’s so funny, people really think there must be more of a reason, that I just want a break for a few months.  I have an exam on Thursday, so I am spending the weekend at uni studying.  We are going to lunch with friends today though and I would normally have a couple of beers, but not today.  I am starting to like the feeling it’s giving me.  I feel I am controlling the alcohol instead of it controlling me.  How is everyone else going?

Day 6

Well I have made it through my first weekend.  The BBQ went well, I drank appletiser and drove a few people home.  I had a great time and didn’t miss my usual cider at all.  I feel so much better today than I usually do on Mondays.  I even went for a swim this morning, which is usually impossible on Mondays.  So overall I am happy to continue with my challenge and  I look forward no no hangovers!   I didn’t have any negative comments, but I did have a lot of questions as to why am I doing it, but people were very supportive.

First Test_Passed

Ok, so today is day 3 and normally on Fridays I go out for lunch with friends and I normally have a beer or two.  On my way to lunch I got quite down because I normally enjoy my beer so much.  When I got there I ordered a lemonm lime and bitters.  After lunch I analysed it and I realised I had a great time anyway and I didn’t feel tired when I went back to work.  I normally have a couple on Firday night when I get home as well, so here I am watching some episodes of ‘Breaking Bad’ and typing away.  I am not missing drinking at all yet.  BBQ tomorrow night will be the test, but I am going to go shopping tomorrow and buy lots of yummy non-alcoholic drinks, just as all the great people on HSM have reccommended.  I hope everyone has a great sober [...]

Day 1 (One)
02/11/11 • 6 Comments

Ok, so first day has been easy.  I had today off work as I have just returned from 5 nights at the coast.  I went to lunch today, and I normally have a cider or two with my meal, but today I had sparkling water.  It made me feel good not to drink just because I normally do.  Back to work tomorrow and on with my new life.  I have also booked into a lifestyle centre for Saturday morning.  I will be doing yoga, pilates, PT sessions and meditation.  I have been wanting to get into these things for a while now, and now that I’m not drinking, I have no excuse.
