And I’m very pleased to say that besides from the first night, so far it’s all been good. There have been one or two moments when I could easily have chucked back a glass or three, but I didnt. So am happy. Couple things have happened though that have been like a small shake up. My lovely mum-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer recently. The prognosis looks good so far, which is such a relief. The other thing was hearing that a friend of a friend had both her breast removed two weeks ago after being “free” of cancer for the past 10 years. She isnt much older than me. I’ve been reading lots of info lately suggesting that drinking over the recommended dose increases the risk of certain cancers. I think I am starting to wake up a bit.

After weeks of indecision, I signed on today and committed myself to three months of sobriety. It seemed like a fabulous idea a couple of hours ago. That was before my children complained through their entire dinner, the green beans got chucked about, a bowl of rice went on the floor and my beautiful 5yo son decided it was time to terrorize his little sister and get uber stroppy with his parents. So he has been sent to bed early, dad has taken charge of bathing the little one and I am salavating for a glass of red wine already. Hmmm, about to find out whether a cup of tea is going to meet the requirement.
