Changes are happening!

I thought I’d better check in – 7 weeks done, and I’ve seen some changes! I’ve pulled out the measuring tape this morning, and I have been pleasently surprised! I have lost 4cm from my waist, 3cm from my hips, and 3cm from my thighs, not to mention 3kgs. This is not all as a result of quitting alcohol. I’ve been watching what I eat and I’ve been exercising, but quitting my wine habit has put a stop to the extra calories, but more than anything… it has really helped with motivation! Doesn’t alcohol just suck the motivation out of you?! I mean, I knew it did, but I didn’t really “get it” until I stopped drinking! So far, so good!

It has been 4 weeks without alcohol and I’m feeling good. I have dropped some weight, I am sleeping better, and I am coping better with stress. Instead of spending money on alcohol, I’ve invested in a few massages… so much more rewarding! I have a work function coming up this Thursday which I am sure will involve plenty of booze, but I’m feeling pretty confident that I will cope! Wish me luck!

Week 2 down! 10 to go!

Well that went well. I’ve just finished my second week of HSM and the first week of my new job with flying colours! I am actually a little surprised that I was able to cope with a new job and a new gym routine as well as the normal day to day things that come with being a wife and mother with relative ease! In fact, it was probably the exercise that helped me cope! I found on the days/evenings that I didn’t exercise, I was a lot more stressed about things… why didn’t I start doing this years ago?! Well, I know why… exercise is hard to get into… booze is easy! I’ve been taking the lazy easy road and assuming that it was working for me when in fact it was just making things worse! Sunday No. 2

Here I am, one week later and feeling pretty damn good! The last 2-3 nights I have slept better than I have in, well, I don’t even know how long. I’ve been exercising almost every day which has helped me to feel fit and energetic and I’ve even lost 1kg! Seriously, so far there are no downsides to not drinking! My first challenge/temptation was last night when my husband and I went to La Premiere. Usually I would have a glass or two of wine or champagne (you know how it goes) as a part of our night out, seeing as we venture out so rarely these days (having a toddler to care for), but I must say it was nice to just see the movie, have a nice meal, a little ice cream and then home for a good sleep! Day 1 -Sunday – 1 January 2012

It’s here, Day 1, and it’s time for a reality check. Current Stats: Waist – 82cm, Hips – 104cm, Thigh – 61cm This is bigger than I have been in a long time. I want to be the size I was in 2008, “wedding size”, and pre-baby. Goal Stats: Waist – 68cm, Hips – 94.5cm, Thighs – 50cm As you can see, there are plenty of centimetres to lose and writing them down like this is pretty daunting… but it’s time, it’s really time to step up and start doing something about it instead of sitting around wishing and hoping things will change. My goal is to also eat healthily (I will be tracking my food and calories through MyFitnessPal) and exercise a minimum of 3 times per week. There’s not time like the present to make a start!
